This demonstration project will make service at Melrose and Tremont stations consistent with other Bronx stations. In an effort to build ridership and provide Bronx residents with more convenient travel options, the railroad will implement a demonstration project to increase service at the Melrose and Tremont stations from the current two-hour frequency to hourly frequency. In its efforts to continually improve on-time performance, Metro-North analyzes incremental data about train timing, crew changes and equipment changes, and these minor time adjustments will reduce the likelihood of cascading delays. These small schedule changes will enhance on time-performance, support critical track maintenance work and capital construction projects, and address customer requests for additional service. Other schedule adjustments are generally two minutes or less. On the Hudson Line, a temporary construction-related service change will be in effect on Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9. As part of this schedule change, the railroad will increase service at the Melrose and Tremont stations as a demonstration project to gauge the effect on ridership.
